 KomTel, the Flensburg-based telephone company, has already recognised
future trends regarding value-added services. In addition to switching
telephone calls and providing Internet access, KomTel offers innovative
and intelligent voice-based value-added services. The services integrate
the Internet in order to make overall handling attractive and efficient
for both KomTel and its customers. KomTel is a telephone-service and
Internet provider with its own fibre optics network in Schleswig-Holstein
and Hamburg (covering 2,000 km). Established in 1997, the company
with its 260 employees serves approximately 80,000 business and private
customers across Germany. It has a wide range of customers, from a
mail-order company serving the entire country to the city councils
of several large cities. KomTel’s shareholders are the Dutch
company Versatel Telecom International N.V. (80%) and Flensburg City
Works (20%).
