Further
reinforcing its presence in the Baltic region, the European Computer
Telecoms Group (ECT), Europe’s market leader for
intelligent value-added services for fixed and mobile networks,
has provided a turnkey ring back tone solution for Omnitel. The
ECT Group won the contract following a highly competitive global
tender. As the general contractor for the complete service, the
ECT Group has provided a customised solution with all user interfaces
(Internet, WAP and SMS) in just eight weeks. ECT’s successful
Ring Back Tone Application is already in use at large European mobile
carriers like the Tele2 Group in Sweden and Vodafone D2 in Germany.
ECT’s solution for Omnitel uses the call-dropback feature
within their Nokia Network, thus eliminating so-called tromboning
and maximising capacity within the network. “We are proud
to be the first carrier in the Baltic States to offer this new
innovative service to our customers. The ECT Group convinced us
with its extremely short time-to-market, user friendly and cost
efficient service. We expect the new service to be a big success,” said
Giedrius Makauskas, Marketing Director of Omnitel.
The ECT Ring Back Tone Application is a completely new type of entertainment
service for mobile phones that has proven to be very profitable in
Europe, Asia and other countries. With the ECT
Ring Back Tone Application,
mobile customers can choose various songs, jokes or other sounds
played to the person who calls them, while they also hear the familiar
ring back tone. The service works regardless of who calls. Anyone
who is an Omnitel mobile subscriber or has an Omnitel prepaid mobile
card can use the service. The new service including a complete demonstration
of the web interface can be seen at www.omni.lt/pyptonas.
Omnitel charges no subscription or monthly fees for the Pyptonai
Service and offers a wide range of ring back tones charged at 5 Litas
(about Euro 1,38) per month. Three ring back tones from the TV advertisement
of the Pyptonai Service are free of charge until 11 October 2004.
“The sale to Omnitel is another major success by Sergej Klunk,
our account manager for the Baltic States and the Russian Federation.
The Baltic States are one of the fastest growing telecommunications
markets in Europe and we are pleased that Lithuania’s most
important carrier, Omnitel, has chosen ECT for its value-added services,” said
Dr. Marshall E. Kavesh, CEO and co-founder of the ECT Group.
The ECT Group offers an easily customisable and scalable solution
for the Ring Back Tone Application, having realised several successful
projects for major carriers across Europe, including Vodafone D2
in Germany and Tele2/Comviq in Sweden. The solution includes network
interfaces to the respective carrier’s post-paid and prepaid
billing and provisioning system, a statistics package, as well as
a content provider interface developed by ECT.
