Tele2,
the leading alternative telecommunications company offering fixed
and mobile telephony, and the Munich-based European Computer Telecoms
Group (ECT) have signed an agreement for a pan-European intelligent
network based on ECT's INtellECT®
Service Control Point.
ECT's INtellECT® Service
Control Point is able to speak proprietary variants of the Intelligent
Network Application Protocol (INAP), making it easy to realise services
within Tele2’s heterogeneous switching environment. The platform's
high-availability architecture also provides n+n redundancy and can
be expanded on a modular basis virtually without capacity limits.
In the first phase of the project, Tele2 has already implemented number
portability in Belgium, Spain and Portugal, with other countries to
follow. "Having only one central intelligent network instead
of individual platforms in each country is a cost-effective way of
implementing number portability," outlines Johnny Svedberg, Executive
Vice President of Tele2.
In addition to number portability, the INtellECT®
supports other value-added services, such as prepaid services and
international service numbers, via ECT's tailored service applications.
With the new mated pair of INtellECT®
Service Control Points in Frankfurt and Paris, ECT is proud to be
making an even greater contribution to Tele2's cost advantage and
innovative product portfolio", comments Dr. Marshall E. Kavesh,
CEO and founder of European Computer Telecoms
